Pearson plans to sell its textbooks as NFTs

Greed... the primary motive behind NFTs.

What a shame, Pearson has gobbled up great publishers such as Addison-Wesley and Prentice Hall - and, amazingly, also the German "M&T - Markt und Technik", which was known in Germany in the 1980/90's as "Müll und Tonne" - "Garbage and Bin"...

What does an NFT add that regular online DRM ebooks don't? Other than hype to help their stock price of course.

Sounds like a way to push sales back to physical copies which can be freely resold.
