In the past, authors had to counter mysogyny and racism by lying about their gender or race. The only thing that has changed here is what the elites prefer.

It seems that when people get power, they abuse it to the detriment of others.

Is it too much to hope that these elites get sued into oblivion or put behind bars?

That's unlikely to happen soon. Even if it happens, the reaction is likely to overshoot in the other direction.

The only hope for reform is for disenchanted old elites like Ms Oates here to push to reform her own team.
