Ask HN: Honest thoughts on TechTok (tech TikTok)?

Honestly I think you should stay away from Tik Tok.

I've scoffed about moral panics in the face of new media before but I've realy seen people destroyed by Tik Tok.

I personally dont care about content from brands on TikTok, only content from real individuals.

What type of techtok content do you enjoy? Do you have any programming based tiktokers you recommend?

I guess I don't even watch techtok content ha. I'm just a normal joe that watches dumbed down videos of ppl doing stupid stuff on TikTok

Fair

Though I may consume it because I don’t want to read, I think most video content on tech is quite underwhelming.

I would say video is ok for superficial understanding, but hopeless for proper learning where you need to find your own pace.
