Ask HN: Why do you keep lists? What do you collect in your lists?

Many here keep personal knowledge bases, but I wonder what distribution we have for types of content collected. If you keep lists of stuff, what do you collect in your lists? Examples: Useful code snippets, places to go, books to read, startup ideas, things to teach your kids, blog post ideas, work todos, etc? If you have public lists, please, do share as well.

My columns are: to learn, to do, documentation to read, silly startup ideas (e.g. infinite hookah and time- and price-logarithmic axis stock graphs), therapy notes. When docs become useful I put specific entry points into documentation folder on a bookmark bar. All snippets are in snippets/<filetype>.vim. Work tasks are also in columns.

I don’t hoard links, but if something seems useful, I bookmark it and forget. Every few months I am bored enough to purge them, check if it’s still interesting (usually not).

Average column count is 5-7 personal and 10-15 work items.
