Quite scary to see Americans still thinking like this. Surely this explains the country's many fuckups in this century, e.g., Afghanistan and Iraq.

I'm not even American, I'm german, for what it's worth.

My point is, sometimes intervention is needed to stop massacres. Certainly worked for my country back in the days.
