It seems reports of access from staff of the producers and vendors (Amzn) to the data exist, and claims about measures to counter the abuse have subsequently been issued. Of course, also the risk of system intrusion exists.
The article offers a rich number of informational points (including legal), but little about the raised questions of systematic mass surveillance (as opposed to clusterized data collectors - which place somewhere video of the passer by and sound recording in a 15 meters wide bubble).
