I think this is just another consequence of Millennials becoming the dominant cultural force. There are the stars they grew up on.

It used to be that Millennials were held responsible for killing everything. Now they're held responsible for saving everything?

Well, I mean with the way the climate is going... if they don't save everything when they age into power, who will?

I wouldn’t have agreed about GenX yesterday. But above was the third comment I’ve read today that misidentified them.

The part you're missing is that Top Gun would've been readily available in rental stores around when those kids (and I was one of them) were starting to be able to get our parents to let us watch them.

The part I'm missing is how Millennials being familiar with Tom Cruise and/or Top Gun is particularly relevant when everyone is familiar with Tom Cruise and/or Top Gun.

These are bankable assets because everyone is familiar.

It is more of the long tail of distribution. These are the stars that were seen on TV in repeats of the same movies. Or rented and taped videos.

One reason might also be how consumption of media have changed. The same stuff isn't repeated as much on main delivery channels.

I think you mean Gen Z. Millenials are still closer to Gen X than Gen Z. They are like Gen X but with pokemon and goosebumps.
