The taunting tone of the article strikes me as un-empirical in some sense. If the thing sucks and no one likes it, then it sucks and no one likes it.

The taunting tone isn't because they think it'll suck, it's because they think it will never exist at all. That's why they accuse it of being a scam (which it definitely is).
