Ask HN: DDG [term] no results; shows result if [term] surrounded by quotes. Why?

The term I was searching for was `bookdepository`

"[term]" with quotes is considered by the search engine (Google included) to be an exact match. This means that the text in quotes MUST appear in the page content/page title.

Why there are different results without quotes is probably due to some bias/glitch in the search engine.

I have the same results for all 3:

`bookdepository`

"bookdepository"

'bookdepository'

Not sure if I was clear enough. The term is without backticks or anything surrounding the text.
