Not personal, but this isn’t something that should have made it through the review process. I’ve had a Mac app rejected for a far more minor offense (having a label in the preferences sometimes display incorrectly); an error alert on launch should not have made it past any reviewer.
Maybe Apple accepted it on purpose to discredit google and discourage usage. They are not a QA dept...
No. But they tend to be quite picky (more than end users, at least).
Crashing apps generally don't pass that review.
I'm not saying they should have covered for Google, of course. But it's a bit strange.
Really? Then why don't they let you install whatever apps you want on your device?
