John McAfee's corpse still in Spanish morgue a year after his death

This is disrespectful.
John followed me on Twitter, but we didn't DM and never hung out IRL.
Normally I'm not woo woo and disliked the guy on a personal level based on how he spends his free time, but things like this lend credence to claims he was murdered, and even if he died of depression they need to allow his family to have a funeral and grieve his death as would be their normal custom.
Because of this, releasing the body — so it can be buried or cremated — would be tantamount to destroying evidence.
So what choice do the Spanish authorities have given such a situation? The ball seems firmly in the court of McAfee's widow's legal team, AFAICT.
But I'll hold off on anything specific since I haven't followed the case closely, I just have a gut feeling he'd be more likely to make some kind of zip gun or shiv and end up dead during a prison escape than simply kill himself.
(I also doubt he'd hang himself, since unlike hanging in the 1800s in America, where you drop from height, "hanging" in a jail is a slow painful death, and I don't think based on what I've read that is how John would have wanted to end his life even if he did decide to commit suicide)

I wouldn't assume he'd never commit suicide because he got a tattoo saying he'd never commit suicide -- people say lots of things.
But if you look at his life and work, you see someone suffering from depression and substance abuse -- someone in pain.
People in pain usually kill themselves in ways aimed at not existing anymore, not prolonging it.
(I did a minor in psychology in both undergrad and my aborted PhD, and have struggled with depression myself, so I can put myself in his shoes. Existing is exhausting.)
