I stream games from Gamepass semi-regularly (the Backbone One is excellent) on my iPhone 12 Mini
Congratulations, you played a AAA video game on your personal surveillance device by streaming it from someone else's (useful) computer. Very cyberpunk of you! I guess that's why they call this place "hacker" news.
- There is no persistent offline storage that isn't at risk of getting wiped every 7 days (even for apps added to the home screen).
- No push notifications (although these are coming).
Which is somewhat frustrating precisely because Safari is otherwise so capable.
Solutions to this is to sync the data with a server, which then requires an account and user management, privacy considerations, keeping the server alive, backing up data, GDPR fun etc...
Any simple applications becomes a maintenance nightmare very quick.
As a web dev, i find Safari to be the jankiest. Just opening the dev tools has become problematic recently.
