Also, this is the state with a pro-insurrection senator that sued another state for voting for Biden. The last four years have definitely been a hard shift right for what was already a solidly right-wing state.
Over the past decades, the right wing has taken a psychotic break from reality. It's not a conservative value; it's just plain stupid. They have indeed gotten stupider over the years.
I suppose you could say that "hating the left wing" is a right-wing value. If so, it's the only axis on which they could move further to the right. And horrifyingly, there is still room to move.
