What is interesting in this game, is that the evil faction in the game are not the espers, but humans that figured out how to enslave them, extract their life essence and turn it into power.
The empire does not care about the well-being of espers or their personality, they only care about their abilities.
There is a part of the game where you see all the espers in a scientific facility, being drained of their abilities and life, and then thrown into a dumpster when they have no magical power left.
That is the software industry.
The good faction are humans that decide to fight the empire, and discover that espers can voluntarily give their power to humans in a more effective way than what the empire can forcefully extract from espers. They use that power to defeat the empire.
Those guys are open source projects.
