Google acquired Rubin in 2005 and Android 1.0 was released in 2008.

Great example.

Another one is Oculus -- acq by FB in 2014, first consumer release in 2016. (Although you could argue that the 2012 kickstarter was a launch.)

Also, wasn't Vine prelaunch when it was acquired by Twitter?

A recent example this year is Qualcomm's acquisition of Nuvia.

how would i know about them if they never had a product under their name?
