Actually, Maybe Don’t Learn to Code

All the stuff taught in boot camps can be easily found and learnt by doing a simple search online for free! I don’t know what makes them bootcamps entitled to charge over ten thousands bucks for three months of lessons that teach you how to code up a simple CRUD website and make you think you deserve six-figure salary just for that… This is just ridiculous…

Isn’t that the case with education in general. Most of it is online for free now. Why do we pay for college?

My take is that to pay for good education is to pay for good teachers.

Of course there are many reasons to go to school aside from getting an education.

It's the work placement promised at the end of the course that sometimes tempts me to do one.

The value is in helping get the first foot into the door, which is a totally different skill than programming itself. A course with a good relationship with some decent IT companies could be good value for someone who doesn't already have contacts in the industry.
