Ask HN: Why not optimize the number of working hours for each employee?

That's kind of the point of flexible hours. Employees work longer when they can and shorter when they can't. At some level, you just trust the employee is professional about it.

Because fundamentally as an employee you’re exchanging your life time for money.

Time and money are 2 core products in a traditional employment model. And we didn’t go far from this model

I have about 5 productive hours and I get a ton of work done. The other three hours I'm pretty much here commenting on stuff.

If there’s a good wat to measute this, I would love to give it a try.

you are asking for the employee to manage the employer.

ive worked at companies that only expected 4h of code a day. so maybe you are at the wrong company?
