I fear these systems aren't going to disappear even if COVID becomes less of a health concern, and countries like Russia or Hungary are going to be eager to deploy something similar.

Governments everywhere are excited that ubiquitous digital surveillance has been normalized.

These things aren't going away. It took years to scare the populace into accepting them, there's no way governments will go back on that now that they've succeeded.
