A small way to start this journey: don't take your phone in the bathroom. Don't read the shampoo bottle instead. Just sit there and do your business without being constantly stimulated.
Try prayer or meditation. Eventually, you won't feel compelled to build Comic Sans eyesores to chase the anxiety away.
I learnt cubing and have been enjoying it as a break from tech/screens!
Is that solving Rubik's cubes? I learned that during the downtime in 2020. Most of my speed gains from 10 minutes down to a minute or so came while mindlessly solving it over and over again while watching TV to build muscle memory. It didn't do a great job getting me away from screens.
I didn't go crazy learning a million algorithms to get my times down below 1 minutes though. I have no ambitions to compete.
I can't say I reflect well with meditation and prayer, but I'm now aware that it's bound heavily to my personality. Or, it could be that I don't think I spend a single day not having a niggling awareness of our inevitable end. Either way, it's not my scene.
I have a bunch of things I want to learn, a bunch of side projects I want to complete, a bunch of books I want to read, one or two books I want to write. Trying to do all that while still working and caring for family and doing the day to day responsibilities makes me wish for more hours in a day.
I have stuff I would like to want to do. I've had stuff on my to do list of cool projects for years, but I rarely translate that into action to actually do them. The result of that is boredom or just killing time. I think part if it is that I don't think I'll have enough time, so I don't start. If I have a couple weeks off work, after 4-6 days of decompressing and accept that I have time, I'll usually start in on some kind of project. But with work I'm mostly just plugging in my battery to charge so I can do it again the next day.
> "Bad web design, worthwhile content"
And it's true I guess. I'm finding a couple of interesting stuff to pass time.
Good compilation, OP. Not sure about the reason for such a design.
A+++
These days a polished website promising "curated" anything is likely to be crawling with trackers and have a hideous "#1 on Product Hunt" emblem on it.
