What's the theory why a company would want an exit interview? Maybe to dig up reasons not fondly remember the person leaving?
Or maybe it's just a way of punishing you for leaving.
Usually the company forces you to go by withholding any severance payouts, so literally skipping them isn't an option.
The advice sounds good to me.
