My question is why go all the way on 2A, less than all the way on 1A, and shave 4A until it really doesn't have any impact? Also, 3A is utterly useless.

It seems like a deliberate choice to limit free speech in some ways (libel and slander, fighting words, etc), make "reasonable search" into something very legalistic that the police can regularly lie about without consequence legal or otherwise, but let anybody carry any weapon any where.

Why all in on one category, but not others?

The Constitution can be changed with amendments, which require a convention and support from 2/3 of the states. That will never happen, the author knows this, so this is just a fluff piece designed to make like-minded people feel better about themselves.

No wonder CNN's ratings are in the toilet.

This is sort of like the saying "Guns don't kill people, people kill people" and having had the chance to spend time around Navy SEALs when I was on active duty I can assure you that the will and ability to kill doesn't rely on any tool, implement, or device but on the cold-hearted commitment to take the life of another. Granted, in the military context this is framed as being a noble thing in the defense of a nation but it's still a violent act that runs contrary to the "basic programming" of human nature and requires viewing your enemy not as a human with dignity and worthy of empathy but as a monster to be slain. Taking this out of the military context I have to ask if a fraction of the time or effort is being spent on trying to understand why the perpetrators of gun crime decided it was necessary or good to take the lives of fellow humans. If we don't seek to understand this breakdown of the spirit then no controlling of dangerous devices will put a stop to those with murderous intent.

If we were hypothetically tackling mortality risks in order then perhaps a CDC table would give good starting points. [1] I personally attribute the first three primarily to environmental inputs and expect a vast majority of those to be preventable.
