Data Source Concordance for Infectious Disease Epidemiology

It seems intuitively unsurprising that health insurance claims are not a reasonable source of information for epidemiology, but it's still interesting to see an attempt to examine that scientifically.

Even the government and etc sources probably have some level of outside biases in reporting, although looking at diseases other than covid which are less in the public eye probably helps with this some.

Seems like a model of true prevalence might be possible?
