However, one of the first things I do is replace Bliss launcher with Discreet Launcher by Vincent Falzon. I find it simpler yet just as functional. And as DaVinci said, "Simplicity is the ultimate sophistication".
i was always hesitant to switch out the launcher, worrying that it might make my phone unusable if i get an unstable version.
what bothers me the most about the default launcher is how difficult it is to move apps from one screen to the next because when i drag an app to the edge to jump to the next screen, it is again at the edge and keeps jumping until i move away from the edge. that makes it really hard to organize the apps into some kind of order. also folders are not convenient to navigate with the way they are opened and closed.
but discreet launcher seems to sort apps alphabetically, which i find even worse. i have more of a spatial memory than remembering names, so i prefer to group apps by type
I encourage you to take just a little time to explore what it has to offer. It may not do everything just the way you want ... but over time, I think you'll find it does everything you really need.
Swipe down for Favorites --- Swipe up for All Apps.
Favorites can be arranged in any order you want.
Folders can be created on the All Apps screen to group apps by type. I have folders for Banking, Security, Utilities, Games, etc..
I have used other launchers and am well aware that others do more --- too much more. Over time, I tend to forget how to manipulate everything and end up fighting the launcher. Discreet is simple enough that I can hold it all in my head and make good use of it when I need to. And I have never found a show stopping bug in it.
The biggest compliment I can give Discreet is to say that I can't think of any feature other launchers offer that I really miss. Simplicity is the ultimate sophistication.
Well it does look like Android to me. Same widgets.
