Is this a transcript? Why is it in Q&A format?

Judging by the "imaginary" characters, I believe this is the Socratic method.

The Socratic method is an interactive form of teaching. A prewritten Q&A may resemble it, but it's not.

The better term to use here is Socratic dialogue [0].

Thanks. I thought there was such a term, but didn't remember which Greek philosopher it was named after.

It's a philosophic dialogue.
