Ask HN: Im Looking for a good job, should i learn IOS or Android Development?

You should learn both. Presuming that you already know how to program, neither platform is insanely difficult to learn, although I find Android to be friendlier to develop for. Then you should learn HTML5 + Javascript.

If you're just wondering which one will get you hired the fastest, personally I would go with iOS. It still has cachet and a lot of corporations are developing iOS apps for internal use.

I work as an iOS developer, for a commercial enterprise development shop that has iOS and android developers. We can find ok iOS developers. We cannot find any android developers at all. Definitely none that are senior level. Every time I get a call from a recruiter the first question they ask is: do you do android? Android is growing like crazy. I personally expect to be doing both iOS and android development in the next year. Go with the platform you can put your heart into and become a top developer. I think either track will be viable for you.

Learning Java for Android puts you in a good position to make the jump to doing normal-Java and C# work if needs be. Whereas if you learn Objective-C for iOs you're kinda limited to, well, iOs and OSX work. So if "a good job" is what you're after it might be a better tactical decision to learn Android.
