I agree, one can definitely go on a long rant about this. The common person has little input into the election process, it is the corporations and the powerful that have far more input into the laws. I think a lot of the hot button issues, like abortion, are probably smoke screens to distract the common people from noticing what is happening behind the scenes. Politics are so polarized, that people vote with their party and rarely cross the line.
