i would think that the people who own the world would think, "hey y'all, we got it pretty good -- we probably should not all kill each other."
but i guess not.
i think they're more thinking -- meaning, the US owners are thinking:
"the world is gonna suck after we blow it up, but we'll probably be able to live a few years through the nuclear winter, and.....maybe musk will be able to launch us towards Mars real quick and we'll figure the rest out on the way.....and, we'll just jet down to New Zealand because that's so far away from everyting, it doens't even matter if the sun doesn't shine for the next twenty year."
i.e. they delusional and/or sociopathic and/or mass suicidal.
Edit: my gut feeling about the risk is pretty much the same ~ 1/5 to 1/3 change of nuclear war in short long distance from now. Yes, it is bad, but there is not much we can at the moment do to deescalate it.

or, we could have a more of what we've achieved so far: - weakening of Russia - strengthening of NATO - increased risk of nuclear endofworld now and in the future - even faster and more catastrophic global warming - massive worldwide hunger, food shortages, starvation - displacement of millions of ukrainians - untold suffering of millions, incl and esp children - thousands of Ukraine civilians killed directly - tens of thousands terrorized - massive erosion of ukrainian civil rights - increased US violence and oppression - more money worldwide for war instead of humanity - etc.
the first two are what US planners wanted, but they and all the others are bad for the rest of the world.
