Gravity signals could detect earthquakes at the speed of light

If the machines that measured the 2 black holes colliding had to be extra precise and insulated as well as costing millions...what are the chances to detect changes in gravity due to an earthquake?

Does a much much much lower distance compared to the black holes allow for less sensitive and expensive machines?

I don't know the details of this, but a guy I worked with once told me he did work detecting underground structures using gravity measurements. I guess there's lots of relatively affordable equipment to so something like this.

Gravitation and any other field phenomena generally adhere to the law of inverse squares where the strength of the field decreases exponentially with linear distance change so without calculation I would say proximity for gravity detection would (generally) trump the initial strength of the field point
