Tatiana, a Siberian Tiger, got vengeance on some young men at the SF zoo in 2007.[0] It was reported that they had been taunting and throwing things at her which pissed her off enough for her to jump the enclosure wall and hunt them down.
That's a nice story, but the reality is that the enclosure was not deep enough. The zoo director then proceeded to blame the victims, creating this colorful vengeance story, while the issue was purely technical. Wild animals will kill you for no good reason and they will not spare the idiots that think they're safe because they are just and ethical.
The reality is that the drunk and stoned fools admitted as such.[0]
They admitted to "yelling and waving". Yes, what a terrible thing, it surely warrants the death sentence by tiger eating and nullifies any concerns about the zoo's inadequate safety precautions.
Of course they didn't admit to throwing things at the tiger. That would be admitting to a misdemeanor crime and lowering their compensation in the lawsuit as they would have provoked the animal's response.
Sad that she got shot. There are less than 500 Siberian tigers left.
yeah, that was horrible and i remember it because of how wrong the outcome was, to most people.
"In living memory, there was no record of an incident like this, of a tiger hunting a human being," he says.
