This just makes Intel Foundry Services a much more enticing option as a way to play both companies against each other.
Greedy moves like this will only increase the pace of TSMCs fall.
Intel needs a massive cultural change to become a successful foundry and regain their moving to new nodes mojo. Samsung is too messed up to play this game at TSMC's level.
Nobody else it trying now, but that might change if TSMC is indeed being "greedy" vs. passing on their increasing costs. The article talks about the pressure of making new fabs but I can't help but notice inflation is roaring now.
I'm also given to understand greed is not part of TSMC's DNA, but that can of course change over time.
They've brought back a lot of engineers, and are gaining traction. And they are so hungry they are sacrificing margin to gain market share, completely the opposite of TSMC.
Nvidia CEO went on the record saying he would be very open to having Intel build their semis. I bet Apple would as well, no one likes being pushed by TSMC.
>no one likes being pushed by TSMC.
That is true. Except TSMC never pushed any one.
