I honestly believe that a large part of the fervor for the lockdowns and other economically disastrous policies came not from a desire to protect public health, but from a desire to hurt Trump. Suddenly Biden gets elected and oh the lockdowns were a mistake, pandemic's over. It's just so stupidly obvious.
I know you are asking this question as a way to disprove my point, but I think yes, whether on purpose or inadvertently. Trump's "America first" doctrine wasn't exactly loved by the rest of the world. And a lot of these countries were following the lead of the US and the WHO.
If I told you Russia invaded Ukraine to "make Biden look bad" would you be as equally accommodating to the facts? If not, it's probably indicative of a personal bias.
