Pretty much every criticism leveled at the left has a far worse corollary that could be directed to the right. The closing of ranks on the left is simply a reaction to the regimented authoritarianism of the right. Sure, some questions are really hard to ask on the left. But in general you can. On the right you have to live in a fantasy world to fit in and it seems like virtue signalling is a contest to see who can sound the most insane.
This disaster, a closing of the intellectual mind, comes from a
confusion of what people think with what they are. An "Information
Age" exclusively about words and ideas, has no room for bodies and
souls. The subtlety of embodied life and spirit breaks its simple
machinery.
