As an individual who is very proficient in this areas, I get rarely any reachouts about those skills. 90% of LinkedIn recuiter messages inquire about generic high level programming projects. Then there's 8% crypto related things, and a very tiny amount of other systems level engineering roles.
On the other hand trying to hire someone for such a role is super hard. Most engineers don't deal with low level details and systems programming languages anymore.
Compensation wise the domain does not be better than others. While one assumes it might be more specialized, that seems by far offset by the amount of lower opportunities and thereby less chances to negotiate compensation than in other software engineering parts.
