To Win the Next War, The Pentagon Needs Nerds

If the president needed all hands on deck tomorrow, the personnel systems couldn't find 25% of "people who know linear algebra and can write python" for all the tea in China. If you gave them 10 years and $50 billion, maybe.
Anyone like to draw 2 circles that aren't touching.
Label the first one, "Nerds" and the other "those who want to work for the pentagon and can achieve these fitness requirements"
Someone is in need of this venn diagram.
I know you're partly joking, but seriously, nerds should not neglect physical fitness. Those requirements are more than you need to be healthy, but healthy young men should be able to get within shouting distance of them. (And healthy young women not too far behind.)
Getting good physical fitness habits young will serve you well. Make exercise, of any type, a habit. Don't think "I'm a nerd and therefore it's OK for me to start courting Type 2 diabetes in my 20s." You'll enjoy your life more if you're healthy.
You can be healthy at pretty much any weight and those running and pushup requirements can be replaced by a lot of good alternatives. Just don't dismiss them as impossible and irrelevant.
Props to you. Keep that up!
>I know you're partly joking, but seriously, nerds should not neglect physical fitness.
I am joking around.
70% of Americans are overweight, 40% obese. That's just the average. Unfortunately 'nerds' are likely to do worse than the average.

SPEAK IT BROTHER!
the idea that there are "normal" people and then the "nerds" with their computers is the reason why your intel is in decline, it goes along with many other systemic problems in the west
I seriously doubt something so trivial indicates anything meaningful about tech recruiting by the government (at least in comparison with other factors) given the number of self-described "nerds" and "hackers" out there, much less some "systemic problem" about the west.
