If they're genetically engineering bacteria to produce this plastic digesting enzyme, that's a spectacularly bad idea. I mean, it's also pretty bad that we've been dumping indigestible plastics into the environment for nearly a century, but suddenly making them digestible is likely to produce some nasty infrastructure and supply chain problems, possibly catastrophic ones, because it wont just be the waste that gets digested.
