This article effectively read as "I want to write Go instead of Rust." Which is fine... just go write more Go instead of lamenting over aesthetic language design choices.
Yep. Case-based member privacy is about the worst thing for me in Go, and I would really hate to see Rust adopt that convention.
Lost me at requiring a web stack in the stdlib. Putting things in a stdlib does not magically create maintainers or community usage. Pythons stdlib is the perfect example. A massive stdlib prevents community experimentation and an almost evolutionary cadence of libraries. For me, rust stdlib is about perfect. It provides the basics, and some common things large swaths of programs will use. The community continues to experiment and thrive, effectively letting things evolve as needed.
> In 2022, a standard library should at least contain the following packages:
None of those should be in a standard library for a language like Rust for fairly obvious reasons.
