Netflix’s Subscriber Loss Has Destroyed Employee Morale

Okay so this could've made sense if the standard compensation package at netflix included options but... they don't! Netflix salaries are 100% cash, unless you chose to buy options at a discounted rate with your salary. I guess the point of the discount is to make employees more invested in the company's success, literally. But that also means that when it does not succeed, the gamble will not pay off. That's the whole point!
It's a bit weird to me that they are still asking to get compensated anyways. Even if you took a gamble that could've made you a lot more money than your colleagues would've earned if they chose a cash-only salary.
To be fair to Netflix, they have invested in a lot in non-US content globally - probably more than other production/streaming services. They have also given some highly-regarded directors creative freedom and financed their films e.g Martin Scorcese (The Irishman) and Bong Joon-ho (Okja).
Whether Netflix is 'crisis' mode or I don't know, but it will be interesting how Netflix changes (if at all) in the coming months.
Some spot checks at levels.fyi shows mostly N/A or low (<30K) listed for stock compensation.
