"The Italian city of Bologna is set to launch a social credit score style system, dubbed the “smart citizen wallet.” Participating in the program is voluntary, for now. According to Corriere di Bologna, users of the “smart citizen wallet” will receive “digital points” for “virtuous behavior,” like recycling."
"“The citizen will [get rewards] if he recycles; if he uses public transport; if he manages [energy consumption] well; if he does not receive sanctions from the municipal authority; if he actively uses the Culture Card,”"
"“Obviously, no one will be forced to participate, and whoever wants to give consent can download and use a special application, but I believe there will be many to join,” Bugani continued. “We want citizens to understand that they are not losers but that their behavior is rewarded.”"
Lovely. Government gets to decide what is good behaviour (and, hint, protesting government decisions won't win you prizes). Be a good citizen!
Now, SIT! Good boy! Have a 'good-boy' citizen point.
You mean like laws which everyone has to follow?
Such idea cannot even in principle originate in a mind that upholds free-democratic ideals and values. What does that mean then?
I reject the very principles upon which such idea may stand and whatever implementation/flavor it will be forced upon us (ever since I have heard about the Chinese social credit system several years back, I knew that the European elites would find just as enticing and attractive to let is pass. So, it appears that it is a question of when and how...].
NB: Germany has also conducted a study on the social credit system in 2021 (though no intention for implementation as far as I know)[so, nothing really worrying I suppose, though to be monitored]

"She later realised her SIM card was one of about 73 million - more than a third of the 198 million in Nigeria - which have been barred from making outgoing calls because they have not been registered in the national digital identity database."
"Nigeria is among dozens of African countries including Ghana, Egypt and Kenya with SIM registration laws that authorities say are necessary for security purposes, but digital rights experts say increase surveillance and hurts privacy.
Nigeria has been rolling out 11-digit electronic national identity cards for almost a decade, which record an individual's personal and biometric data, including fingerprints and photo.
The National Identity Number (NIN) is required to open a bank account, apply for a driver's license, vote, get health insurance, and file tax returns."
