At this point, I see no other option other than lobbying your congressmembers to regulate SV companies finally. Now companies are enforcing the uptake of new APIs for no real purpose? Half of the churn is just to pad googler pedigree and advance within the company, it is a shame they are enforcing that culture on their users.

For google, it is mostly for fighting against random api abused usage in China apps. China apps can always find a new way to abuse apis that mean to enhance the user experience to tracking and data stealing.

So you want the government to come in and force software platforms to maintain backwards compatibility forever?

No, just ban software stores from removing working apps for no good reason.

So you want the government to come up with “good reasons”? Would a “good reason” be that Apple stopped supporting 32 bit hardware? An app didn’t support new display sizes? The notch?
