"A judge in Brazil has ruled Apple must pay a man over $1,000 for not including an iPhone charger in the box."

I think the solution here is that the default is no charger, but if you want one, they have to give you one for free.

Yeah it is insane how many USB chargers I have coming out of my ears.

I just cleaned out my backpack and found five.

How many can do USB-C PD?

None. But I try to keep a Sony charger around so I can reliably charge my Sony devices.

I wish they’d let me give back the ones I have. They can give them out to someone else

This one is actually easy: just offer the customers 2 options, 1 a full box included charger with higher price and 2 a lite box without charger and lower price.

Forecast the demand for each option is a bit intimidating, but if Apple is right, most people would choose the lite version. No law can forbid the customers’ choice.

No that is illegal. The law specifically says you can’t offer a product that requires another product in order to be useful.

The charger has to be included for free. They can ask the customer to decline taking the charger but they can’t have it unavailable.

How is that law written? Does it apply to, say, razor blades and inkjet refills?

That is utter horsecrap. Ever heard of "batteries not included"?

Yes! Apple is aweful in their Tie-Sales...
