Ubuntu 11.10 has arrived

Since there's no release announcement on http://release-blog.ubuntu.com or elsewhere, and the home page hasn't been updated, the release isn't officially out.

Release images are made available for the mirrors to sync a while before the actual release. Downloading them now will slow down the syncing, and people who download now will risk getting not-so-final and potentially broken images (it's happened in the past, can happen again). Which is why I'm flagging this for the time being.

We should keep an eye on http://thisisthecountdown.com/

I was expecting a link with the motivation behind this release, not a link to the download.

Not sure why there are 2 places, but the CD desktop image is here: http://releases.ubuntu.com/oneiric/

edit: ok, the original link contains "only less used images"... use http://releases.ubuntu.com/oneiric/ for the CD images (there are torrent files available, too)

Hope all unity, gnome 3 and kde4 will mature more. I m using all of them on different machines to see what is happening. All of them look fine. Hope a focus on performance, memory footprint and cpu processing will make them better and better. I still didn't make mind what to use next.
