Clarifying the structure and nature of left-wing authoritarianism

Stalin was a czar like the czar before him who deposed the czar before him.
“Oh but I’m a {king | leader | servant } of THE PEOPLE” Of course you are, comrade! Er, your highness…
All of politics can be reduced to whether we will still be stuck worshiping kings or whether we will organize ourselves.
Monarchism is certainly rather authoritarian, isn’t it. Giving people and parties absolute power is a bad idea whatever your notion of right left etc.
Of course, as someone who collapses the four pole axes to two: utopian and dickish, I blame the right wing spirit in humanity for all that socially ails us. The right will never have creative answers to emerging problems as their fundament lies in denial of reality and the insistence of sticking with bad dumb cultural ideas, which is what the majority of culture is: collections of bad ideas and lousy systems imposed upon new humans.
“Here ya go kid, welcome to debt and climate change, thanks for the subsidies, future”
Yes, as a conservative I am biased, but it still shocks me that most studies in the past (as this study recognizes) on authoritarian behavior have focussed on right-wing authoritarian behavior -- despite the fact that most of the effective authoritarian behavior for the last 30 years has been on the left.
Thank you, Biden Administration, for not putting the kabosh on research like this.
There’s absolutely no reason to see these authors as correct. In fact it appears to have triggered confirmation bias; the right in the US caged kids, confiscated land to build a useless wall, suspended Habeas Corpus over 9/11, both sides and the patriot act; no right wing voters stood up to stop them, and is often cheering on their book burning and gun waving threats. But this confirms to you the left are the vile aggressors of the last 30 years? When the politicians and their party cheer or idly ignore the platforms issues, calling everyone else fascist you jump the shark completely.
Appeals to far away high minded authority are pretty traditional human authoritarian. Researchers can show up and grow some potatoes, kill their next steak; contribute to the hands on mess. Their theories aren’t solving day to day issues for them, poorer workers are.
Otherwise this is merely leveraging the currently acceptable form of feudalism to command more attention than “essential workers”.
When the right is not batshit insane, violating others rights in a gaudy display of how free they are to do so, we can talk about others.
Frankly; both sides are apathetic cowards who kowtow to political tradition and have no clue how to work together freely; they bleat about one side or the other while circling around the same politically captured economic scheme with each other. The problem is you all repeating there are two sides due to repetitive exposure, when it’s just other people.
Where I most agree with you is with regard to January 6th. It is shameful that Trump fomented violence, and almost worse that Liz Cheney is being ostracized for speaking the truth and doing what is right.
Sorry but by continuing to deflect and project to spare your pride, and cling to traditional political divisions is … words like left and right in the context of politics mean nothing to me. You may as well be speaking in tongues. “Colorless green ideas sleep furiously.” is what it all feels like to me.
I’m not saying you have to customize for my sensibilities; I’m saying I’m not customizing myself for yours. Dem or Rep they’re just one of seven billion to me. I give neither platform special consideration and focus on the politician individually.
Free people who would manage their own affairs do not set aside management of those affairs in deference to aristocrats and parties controlled by their wealth.
If you have actual information, metaphor and analogy that’s useful to future planning of real human needs, let’s talk. I simply cannot LARP American Civic Life: The Cablr News Show! anymore
