Why do you want to be optimistic?
At the end of the day, it is frightening to raise a child in a world you are not optimistic about. And I can't imagine my youth without this idea of a bright future.
I'm trying real hard to cherish every moment and be optimistic, but none of these things are improving.
The only thing that's worked for me on a personal level is not watching mainstream news or advertising, disconnecting from social media, and basically making a decision that I can't improve any of these problems so it's pointless to even try.
Lol, being Australian my government are climate denying coal shills (I didn't vote for these particular clowns).

Sorry to be a downer, but...
It might not have been such a great idea to have brought them into a world that you're not optimistic about, and really doesn't justify optimism, then.
