I've been saying this for ages, but as consolidation and increasing commercial rent continnues to erode local businesses, the "mom-n-pop shop" concept is growing online.
People are selling custom wares on Etsy/Shopify, running a Youtube/Twitch channel, becoming Amazon FBA vendors, etc. A big difference is that both expenses and revenue are lower, and people are usually dependent on one or multiple big corpo platforms for customer discovery and continued success.
