You Should Probably Stop Using Your Wyze Camera Right Now

Original post from Bitdefender is here. [1]

Note that the V1 is the only one that is still vulnerable. V2 and V3 have been patched. But the main lesson here is that Wyze will not tell you when they learn of vulnerabilities, so you should assume any Wyze device is potentially compromised. Pretty disappointing, but I can't say I'm surprised!

The white paper is really short and pretty damming: https://www.bitdefender.com/files/News/CaseStudies/study/413...

Is there any way to hack the firmware on a Wyze cam so it can be used as a camera accessible through local intranet?

Hmm, this looks promising https://github.com/EliasKotlyar/Xiaomi-Dafang-Hacks

I bought one and for $35 I was not expecting top level security, thus its not pointed at anything important.
