The article uses the word “exoteric” twice, which I have previously only encountered in the discussion of religious texts: esoteric texts are generally secret and designed for consumption only within the group, and exoteric texts are open and designed for external readers. Interesting to encounter this usage; I presume the author means an exoteric device is intended for mass adoption?
I noticed that too, and I can't really tell if they literally mean exoteric or are misusing it when they mean esoteric.
