Supreme Court to Review Warhol Lawsuit Involving Prince Portrait

The "recognizable foundation" for the painting is Prince.

It's not like Warhol scanned the photograph and put it through an "oilify" filter (tools he would not have had at the time). The photo conveyed the true likeness of Prince to the artist, from which he created newly expressive art.

This copyright nonsense sure needs to be trimmed down in size and scope.

The fact that no one has ever won a lawsuit against South Park, means this case is almost certainly doomed. Even Disney knows better than to try. Only religious fanaticism can stop someone from making an artistic rendition.
