Poop.is – A Crappy Link Shortener

Hey all - author here. This amazing feat of engineering uses a hardcoded list of adjectives, and apparently pegs at 100% when the full list is consumed. Here's the sauce: https://git.j3s.sh/poop.is/tree/master/main.go

I've restarted it and I'm working on making it more resilient, lol. I didn't expect so many hits.

Truly the crappiest link shortener.

Fun stuff, but my shortened link didn't work. Maybe system is under load.

Here's another gem by the author: https://existentialcrisis.sh

I shortened its own url and it yielded “https://poop.is/remorseful”.

A+

The author's website is refreshing in the current age of blogspam SEO optimization. Worth a glance and they sound friendly! Even though there is the suspiciously consistent scatalogical theme..

Heh, but it needs explicit http:// or https:// in front :)

Also mentioned on HN quite a while ago: http://shadyurl.com

I'm sorry to report that it gives a new shortening each time you submit the new address, and now I'm not sure if my kid caused you to have 30 extra records for the same address. All the same, thank you for this, it's awesome and made my morning. :)

Somehow, I am amused by the author's liking towards crap!!!

shitchat poop and such crappy things as the names!

Just for fun though!

This can be used to store data. Someone should build a filesystem that runs on top of it.

We love poop.is, so we decided to poop more https://poop.is/meagerly-meager

Is it crappy because it doesn’t do anything?

I like this

it just redirects back to the main page?
