My website disappeared from Bing and DuckDuckGo

I kind of feel like search engines are being engineered to be stupider. Google has been criticized in the past for omitting and altering results, and also for being downright worse in general in the last years. And now other search engines are actively removing websites... It all seems... curiously counter productive.

Is it possible that after some event happened every indexer became overly selective to avoid giving people what they search for when they seek misinformation? Or maybe they've all been bought by the government and are being under an 'invisible' influence?
