Open-Outcry Communication: Hand Signals

Very interesting, thanks! I stumbled upon this site a few weeks ago:

The site is sometimes broken - and the book that it's advertising doesn't seem available on Amazon anymore. But some articles on the site do work:

The above has fascinating embedded videos.

I notice that the first video is from a PBS programme. Funny thing, I first learned about the hand signals from another PBS production, Open Outcry (https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0816256/). It was once uploaded to Youtube in several parts, but unfortunately I cannot find the playlist anymore.

The American Stock Exchange (the "Curb Exchange") re-created their early days for this film.[1] See all the hand signals, and the history. Which is very funny. The Curb Exchange operated in New York City streets for well over two decades, until they finally got a building in 1921 and moved indoors.

Documentary 'Futures Past' covers the last days and some of the history of the open outcry system at the CME.

It has a lot of other wonderful themes as well. I love this movie.
